Sunday Recap for Aug 30th

Church Issues, Church Planting, Jesus, Media, Music, Sermons, Services, Serving — Brian on August 30, 2009 at 3:33 pm
  • Crazy day today! I woke up at 2am and couldn’t go back to sleep. Tidied up my sermon for a couple of hours. I guess I wasn’t quite finished?
  • Had to have a heart to heart talk with God. Asked him, “We had all week to finish this. Why did you have to wake me up at 2am the morning of?”.
  • He didn’t answer me. But I’m okay with it because it was greatly improved by some stuff that God spoke to me while sleeping during my 3 hrs last night.
  • Got the sound system all set up, then Bryce had to run home because his 9 mo old fell down the stairs! She’s okay.
  • But we had no sound or powerpoint person. So Doug volunteered. It wasn’t his fault. I don’t know what happened, but we didn’t get to many lyrics on the screen during worship.
  • I had a lot of requests of the sound guy today. Recording sermons, showing videos, song lyrics, sermon powerpoint. I mean come on.
  • Did a new song called “The Stand” by Hillsong. Love it.
  • Oh yeah, all of our Kidway leaders were gone due to children falling ill or falling down stairs.
  • Thankfully my lovely assistant offered to help with Kidway. Did I mentioned I’ve been sleeping with my lovely assistant?
  • Other than a hectic morning, I think the service went well.
  • Spoke on Joshua 7-8, the effects of sin in our life, and the sin/shame cycle if the guilt is not resolved.
  • Thankfully, God resolved this issue before the foundation of the world through his son Jesus Christ.
  • Here are the steps to rid ourselves of sin and shame: 1) Confession Leads to Forgiveness; 2) Forgiveness Leads to Repentance; and 3) Repentance Leads to Restoration.
  • You can listen to the sermon here.

Sunday Recap for July 26th

Church Issues, Church Planting, Media, Sermons, Services — Brian on July 28, 2009 at 5:56 am
  • What a powerful service! It was one of those days when the presence of God was clearly evident.
  • Worship was sweet. Emily and the team really got into a flow.
  • Spoke on Joshua Chapter 3. The last big obstacle. All of us have obstacles that keep us from our inheritance. Many of us camp way too long on the wrong side of our obstacle. What’s it gonna take for us to step into the water?
  • Each of us carries the presence of God with us. Each of us is a priest in the Kingdom of God. God will accompany us as we step out in faith.
  • The difference between where you are and where God wants you to be is the amount of risk you are willing to take for Him; it’s the amount of faith you’re willing to exercise.
  • If you never take God-sized risks, you’ll never see God-sized miracles.
  • Faith is God’s currency. It’s the currency of His Kingdom.
  • Don’t be like the Moses Generation, who camped on the wrong side of their obstacle for 40 yrs. They died on the wrong side.
  • Be the Joshua Generation, who camped for 3 days in order to prepare themselves, then stepped out in faith into the raging river.
  • Joshua 21:45 “Every single good promise that the Lord had given the nation of Israel came true.”
  • They came true because they were obedient and they stepped out in faith even when their circumstances seemed impossible.

A New Book for Leaders

Whether you’re a business leader, civic leader, or church leader, this book is for you. This has got to be one of the best books that has come out in some time. If you’re a leader of any type, you need to download this book. It’s free.

What someone has done is taken the best blogs of 2008, from some of the best church leaders in North America, and compiled them into a book format, arranged by author.

You can read one entry a day and it will last you the entire year. Or you can do as I do, and just keep reading until your eyes turn bloodshot because the entries are all so good!

Happy reading!

This has to be the craziest card ever. I seriously got this from one of our friends when we moved to Missoula to launch RCC.

Mythbusters, Bible: Fact or Fiction?

Media, Sermons — Brian on November 7, 2008 at 4:38 pm

We started our new Mythbusters series last week with, The Bible: Fact or Fiction? Here’s the video I intended to show before the sermon, but we had technical difficulties and it wouldn’t work:
